We have a new Executive Director

Paula LaBrie, Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society’s New Executive Director

September brings renewed energy to our VAHMS team.

We are fortunate to have a diverse group of board members, advisors, and volunteers who have the skills and the desire to help us achieve our goals. Each year explorASIAN festival grows bigger and stronger thanks to all our VAHMS team, sponsors, partners, and donors.

I’m delighted to share with you some exciting news. Paula LaBrie has joined VAHMS as our new Executive Director.  Jimmy Yan joins the team as a new Board Director. Isabel Espinosa, and Thomas Robson are our most recent volunteer members. Welcome all to the VAHMS team!

On the other hand, we would like to express our deepest appreciation to our Treasurer, Sally Ha Hau, for her excellent work and support these past two years. Sally is moving to Toronto to pursue new opportunities in her career. We thank her for the time and care dedicated to VAHMS and wish her the best in her new life endeavours.

VAHMS team works all year round to showcase Asian and Pan-Asian Canadian communities and to produce the explorASIAN Festival in May.  During the months of September and October, our Executive Director, President and Vice-President, Board Committees, Standing Advisors, Ken McAteer, and Beverly Nann, will help develop our strategic plan to make sure a successful 2020-2021 festival programming is in place.  Our Media and Marketing teams are continuously adding events happening beyond Asian Heritage Month to create even more opportunities to showcase our Pan-Asian Cultural Connections.

Finally, because our volunteers are the most important element of VAHMS, we will ensure that volunteer engagement and recognition remain one of our priorities. This means that whether you join us as a committee member, volunteer, or director on our board; volunteering with us will give you the opportunity to learn new skills and support the diverse Pan-Asian communities living in Metro-Vancouver.

Join us and be part of the Vancouver Asian Heritage Month Society’s team.
